Homeowners who have owned their home for more than 10+ years have old legacy toilet systems that still work but show signs that there are issues that are starting to show that they need to be replaced.

Below are some of the common problems associated with older toilet systems that need to be repaired or replaced.

• Slow Tank Fill
• Sluggish Flush
• Tank Over Filling

Next, we will explain briefly what each of these most common toilet issues are.

Running Toilet Water

After you have flushed the toilet, there is a slow leak where there is a constant leak of water into the bowl. This is usually due to old toilet systems that need to serviced. Most likely it is due to the Flush Valve Gasket is wearing out and needs to replaced. You can get a handyman to replace the kit.

Slow Tank Fill

When the toilet is flushed, the tank is supposed to fill up rather rapidly within 5-10 seconds. If the tank takes longer than 10 seconds, then probably either the Water Level Adjustment screw needs adjustment or the whole Fill Valve needs to be replaced. You can contact a handyman to replace this.

Sluggish Flush

When you press the flush handle to flush the toilet and the water is not flushing correctly (sluggish), the most likely problem is that the flush handle/chain needs adjustment. If after the adjustment, the problem is not solved, then you probably need to replace the flapper and/or whole flush valve kit. You can contact a handyman for replacement.

Tank Over Filling

If after you flush the toilet, the water keeps over filling the tank, then you can adjust the float. If after adjustment the water keeps over filling, then contact a handyman to replace the Fill Valve.
